Our plans for improving your Genero experience.

• Written by Mick & Andrew, Co-Founders

At the end of last year we celebrated our 15th anniversary, and we want to take a moment to thank you for being part of our community. You’ve helped us grow a global network of independent creatives across every continent, transforming the way brands access world-class independent talent.

As we look forward to 2025 and beyond, we’ve used feedback from our community, including a recent survey of our most active creators, to help set the direction for our business.

Our goal is to make Genero the go-to platform for independent creative and production businesses and talent. We’re excited to share the steps we’re taking to improve your experience.

More access to work

Each month, we commission over 100 briefs and pay out millions of dollars to creatives. Today over 90% of this is through private briefs to pre-selected creatives, which has a number of benefits but limits access to the broader community. We’re making improvements to ensure more creatives are getting access to work. This includes:

  • Giving you better visibility of all the briefs and programs across the platform
  • Growing the number of clients, briefs and budgets going through the platform
  • Enabling select clients to search, discover and connect directly with creators
  • Expanding ways to match creators with clients so more of you have access to work

Better feedback and transparency

We understand how important communication and constructive feedback is. While we provide tools for clients to offer feedback on unsuccessful pitches, it’s clear that this isn’t being done often enough. We’re planning to improve communication and transparency by:

  • Embedding client feedback tools directly into the commissioning process
  • Providing clearer insights into why a commissioned creator was selected
  • Showing the expected number of creators pitching on private briefs
  • Sharing more examples of successful treatments, creators & work

Reducing unpaid work in pitching

While pitching is an essential step for being commissioned, we also want to ensure the opportunity to win work is balanced with the time and effort required in the pitch process. To improve this we’re:

  • Improving matching of creatives to briefs based on your Genero profile and work examples – make sure these are complete and up to date!
  • Encouraging clients to request portfolios and high-level concepts as the initial step
  • Increasing the number of briefs where shortlisted creators are paid for full treatments

Strengthening community and collaboration

Finally, we want to build more space for you to engage. It’s clear that you’re looking for more ways to network, connect and collaborate. We’re exploring new ways to support you, including:

  • A service to help you hire – or be hired by – other creatives
  • New training and mentorship opportunities
  • Providing opportunities for networking and collaboration

Introducing new creative memberships

As we work towards investing in our community and building a platform that better supports you and your work, you’ll see some big announcements and improvements!

As part of this we’ll soon be introducing new membership tiers that will offer added benefits across the Genero experience. This will introduce the option for monthly subscriptions in return for:

  • More access to opportunities and work
  • Lower payout fees, providing more creative budget on each project
  • Training & resources to arm you with more skills and credentials
  • Exclusive perks, personalised opportunities and other benefits

We’ll be sharing plenty more details on this soon, and can’t wait to roll out these improvements.

Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback—your insights help shape the future of Genero. Keep an eye out for more news, product updates, and opportunities in the coming weeks!
