Show off your portfolio with a Genero profile

Genero tips • Written by Ellie CK, Creative Community Manager

If you’re pitching on Genero, you’ll want to stand out to all prospective clients, and the very first step is making sure your profile looks slick.

Our latest Genero profile design is made so that you look better than ever! It’s important to us that your best work is upfront for clients to see, so think of this as your own Genero portfolio.

There’s a few things you can do to make sure your Genero profile is looking its best though, so we’ve thrown together a couple of quick tips to help you look good and stand out to clients:

1. Update your profile picture!

Your profile picture is one of the first things clients see when reviewing your treatments, so help clients put a face to a name when you’ve pitched on a job.

You might want to show yourself in action on set, or if you’re an animator, it could be a great opportunity to share your illustration style with a little self portrait.

2. Add a cover image

Upload one of your favourite video stills, share a behind the scenes photo or incorporate your own branding. Cover images should be high-res, so they work across a range of formats and placements include your profile and pitches.

While you’re at it, if you’ve got some nice behind the scenes content, feel free to send it our way, as we love sharing snaps of our filmmakers doing their thing.

3. Show off your work

We want your Genero profile to be a beautiful portfolio of your best work! Your profile will show your featured work first, followed by jobs commissioned on Genero and then any other content you want to show off.

All creators can add up to 4 videos from Youtube or Vimeo to your profile, while ranked creators can add up to 12. These videos are embedded, so make sure the links work properly! This is a great place to highlight your showreel or favourite pieces of work and choose a featured video to stand out from the rest.

4. Tell us about yourself

A well written bio is a great way to tell us more about YOU. Are you a freelancer or do you work at a production house? What great projects have you worked on? What are your main skills and creative interests? We love getting to know you, and so do our clients.

5. List your skills

Tell us more about the kinds of work you’re best at. If you’re an animator, this is the place to let us know what type of work you do, so you can list things like 3D Modelling, Animation or Motion Graphics as skills. For other creators, try sharing the gear types, editing software or filmmaking styles you are experienced in, ie. Documentaries, VFX, Drone Operator, Timelapse. These will help clients find you for paid work!
