Capturing Airbnb's 'Big Gay Stay' at Sydney Mardi Gras.
The brief
To promote their sponsorship of the Sydney Mardi Gras, Airbnb created ‘Big Gay Stay’, a competiton searching for a couple to win the ultimate Mardi Gras experience. The prize included a night’s accommodation in a unique, purpose-built Airbnb property which also acted as the Airbnb parade float, literally putting them at the heart of the parade.
Airbnb came to Genero seeking a creative team who could capture the winners’ experience as well as highlights from the Mardi gras parade. The content would be used to promote the campaign through PR and Airbnb’s owned digital channels.
The approach
Genero creators Blunt Gorilla were commissioned for this brief. They produced an emotive video that captures the spirit of what Mardi Gras means to the winners, as well as the vibe and energy of the Mardi Gras itself, encapsulating Airbnb’s belief of ‘Belong Anywhere’ beautifully.
