Nespresso Talents 2020

Taking Nespresso Talents to a whole new level.

Client: NespressoCreators: Faride, Daniela Hýbnerová, Teymour

The project

We were proud to partner with Nespresso for the 5th edition of Nespresso Talents, a global celebration of creative filmmaking which challenges creators around the world to test their creativity with stories told through vertical short films.

Through our creative platform and global network of filmmakers, and in conjunction with Nespresso, we invited filmmakers around the world to submit 2-3 minute, vertical films within the theme ‘Virtuous Circles’ – stories about how one good deed can change something for the better, and even become a catalyst for something bigger than the action itself.

Selected filmmakers would each receive an invitation to the 2021 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, a mentoring session with cinema experts and prize money from a pool of €50,000. Winning films from 11 local markets which took part in regional competitions would also receive prizes.

As well as the 42 jury members who took part in judging the local competitions, three overall winners were selected by an all-star international jury: Film and television actor Mark Chao, General Coordinator of Cannes’ Semaine De La Critique Rémi Bonhomme, award winning photographer Rena Effendi, and world explorer/adventurer Mike Horn.

The results

Nespresso were thrilled to receive an incredibly diverse and powerful response to this brief, even with the additional difficulties that arose  as the Coronavirus pandemic took hold. With restrictions to movement around the world providing never before seen challenges to production, we worked with Nespresso to extend the competition to allow those who wanted to participate more time to create their entries.

In the end, we received 734 submissions in total from 47 countries around the world – almost doubling the number of submissions vs the previous year. There were 36 winning productions overall, and over 100 shortlisted submissions by the end of the review and judging process.

“Fostering creative talents and supporting people who think differently is at the core of the Nespresso Talents platform. Despite these challenging times, we are delighted to see so many talented filmmakers joined the movement, almost doubling this year’s participation, compared to our 2019 edition”

Anna Lundstrom, Nespresso Chief Brand Officer

“Partnering with Genero has allowed us to take Nespresso Talents to a whole new level. Their professionalism, dynamism, solution-oriented mindset and capacity to manage such a large scale project across many different countries were integral to the success of the project. We look forward to working with them on the next edition!”

Colas Dupont, Nespresso Global Sponsoring and Experiential Events Project Manager
